The History of our Foundation

The Choose A Charity.net Foundation Inc., a 501(c)(3), was established in April of 2007, by its founder, Lisa Howard. Born and raised in New York, the sixth of seven children, Lisa had what most people would consider a typical childhood. The Howard kids never went to bed hungry, and each had a warm bed to sleep in. For most people, these basic necessities are taken for granted. Many could not imagine life without them. However, the harsh reality is there are an astonishing number of children and their families, right here in the United States, that would consider these basic necessities a luxury. So much effort and attention, albeit justified, is on the global hunger crisis. However, our Foundation’s mission is to focus our efforts on children and their families in the United States and right here in our own backyards. The Choose A Charity.net Foundation dedicates fund-raising efforts to Truck Sponsorship through Feed The Children and other child-related programs. Through these programs we provide the youth of today, our leaders of tomorrow, with the basic necessities.

For every merchant, every month, that subscribes to the Choose A Charity.net merchant member program, Choose A Charity.net pledges fives dollars. Our goal is to obtain five hundred merchant subscriptions per state. That’s twenty-five hundred dollars per month, per state, which would allow the Choose A Charity.net Foundation to underwrite one Truck Sponsorship every quarter, in every state.

The Choose A Charity.net Foundation is in its infancy stage, as we have only just begun to offer our program and raise awareness of our mission in Somerset County. It is our every intention to take the Choose A Charity.net program across New Jersey and eventually expanding our efforts nationwide. We expect to not only meet, but hopefully exceed our goals.

Why it Works:

Choose A Charity.net’s concept is to foster healthy community relations and economic growth by uniting and emphasizing the interdependence of community, local merchants/business and non profit organizations.

How it Works:

Attach your Choose a Charity.net key tag to your key chain or simply carry it in your wallet. Every time you shop at a Choose a Charity.net merchant member, 5% of your purchase, before tax, goes to your favorite charity. Key tag must be present at time of purchase.

Who it Benefits:

100% of every donated dollar from your purchase goes directly to your choice of charity.
